Wolverine offense shines in sweep of Rochester University

DEARBORN, Mich.— The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's ice hockey team returned to WHAC action with a home-and-home weekend series against the Rochester University Warriors on Friday (11/12) in Utica, Mich. and Saturday (11/13) in Dearborn, Mich.

The Wolverine offense picked up right where it left off the previous weekend, using a four-goal first and a five-goal second, topping Rochester University 10-5 on Friday night.

Leading UM-Dearborn was Billy Brock with a goal and four assists, while Brendan West and Anthony Davis would add two goals and an assist each. 

Joey Cullinan would add two goals, while Colin West, Jared Lee, Silas Johnson, and Josh Makarchuk would all add a goal. 

Kayden Pickles would get the start in goal for the Wolverines, making 28 saves in the winning effort.

On Saturday night, UM-Dearborn would strike five times to complete the weekend-series sweep, defeating the Warriors 9-3. The two wins move the Wolverines to 8-7-1 on the season and 6-4-0 in the WHAC.

The line of Brock, West, and Davis stayed hot, racking up a combined 16 points in the game. Brock finished the game with three goals and two assists, while Brendan West added two goals and four assists and Davis recorded one goal and four assists. 

Cullinan (1G, 1A), Mathews (2G), Makarchuk (2A), and Gavin Lawrie (2A) would all record multi-point games for UM-Dearborn. 

Pickles would make it back-to-back wins, making 24 saves for the Wolverines.

The Wolverines return to action with a home-and-home weekend series against the Cleary University Cougars at 7 pm Friday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse in Dearborn, Mich. and at 3:30 pm Saturday at the 140 Ice Den in Howell, Mich.
