Wolverines drop WHAC matchup to Cardinals

RIVERVIEW, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's soccer team continued Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play against Concordia University Saturday at Gabriel Richard High School in Riverview, Mich.

The Wolverines held the Cardinals to one goal in the first half, but Concordia pulled away in the second for a 4-0 win. The game was called with 3:55 left on the clock due to lightning in the area. The loss drops UM-Dearborn to 1-5-2 overall and 1-3-1 in the WHAC.

Four different Cardinals scored in the game including a brilliant strike from Paige Messmer in the 71st minute from 25 yards out into the far top corner for the fourth Concordia goal of the game.

Jordan Anheuser finished with 13 saves in net for the Wolverines, who were outshot 25-4. Nicole Losek recorded two shots in the game for UM-Dearborn.

The Wolverines play their third straight at home, taking on Aquinas College at 7 pm Wednesday at Gabriel Richard High School.
