RIVERVIEW, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's soccer team rallied from two one-goal deficits to force overtime against the University of Saint Francis Saturday at Gabriel Richard High School in Riverview, Mich.
Junior forward Jenna Rogers scored both goals for the Wolverines, while sophomore goalkeeper Jordan Anheuser made 10 saves, including one in the final moments of overtime to preserve a 2-2 tie.
UM-Dearborn improves to 0-1-1 on the season.
The back-and-forth game was the first tie and multi-goal game in Wolverines history. Rogers also became the first Wolverine to score multiple goals in a game.
The Cougars got the scoring started just 13 minutes in off a goal from Cassidy McAfee. The Wolverines wasted little time answering back, as Rogers scored the first of her career after capitalizing on a misplayed ball by USF goalkeeper Melanie Xouris four minutes later.
After a penalty shot goal put USF ahead 2-1, a foul from Kennedy Binkley set the Wolverines up for a set piece from 35 yards out. Rogers struck the ball cleanly past the wall and the goalkeeper to even the score with 25 minutes remaining in regulation.
USF outshot the Wolverines 12-6 and had a 13-7 advantage in corner kicks.
The Wolverines are in action next at Goshen College at 7 pm Wednesday in Goshen, Ind.
