Skene powers her way to WHAC award

DEARBORN, Mich. – University of Michigan-Dearborn softball sophomore Madelin Skene had an outstanding week with the bat for the Wolverines in Florida, earning a first-career weekly conference award, it was announced Monday.

The Hartland, Mich., native is the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Player of the Week for her performance in 11 games at THE Spring Games in Florida last week.

Skene finished the week 20-for-34 with six home runs, 16 RBIs, 11 runs scored and three stolen bases. She also pitched in three games, earning one win and striking out 11 batters in 13.2 innings.

This season, Skene is batting .450 with 27 hits, seven doubles, seven home runs, 23 RBIs, and a slugging percentage of .950. She currently ranks second in the nation in home runs.

The Wolverines continue play in Florida with two more on Monday. UM-Dearborn opens the day against William Penn University at 3:45 pm, followed by a matchup with Carlow University at 6 pm.
