KENT, Ohio - The No. 3 seed University of Michigan-Dearborn men's ice hockey team scored six goals in the second period to defeat No. 4 Indiana Tech in the semifinals of the Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League Playoffs Saturday in Kent, Ohio.

The Wolverines received two goals and an assist from Jeff McFarland (JR/Grosse Ile, Mich.). Tyler Groat (SO/Wyandotte, Mich.) added two goals, including the game winner, in the second period, as UM-Dearborn improves to 22-7-1 on the season. Groat has five goals in the first two games of the GLCHL Playoffs.

After a scoreless first period, Troy Saunders (SO/Canton, Mich.) got the scoring started for the Wolverines with an assist from John Barlow (SO/Shelby Twp, Mich.). Groat and McFarland combined to score the next four goals after Indiana Tech tied it at one. Barlow added a goal late in the period to make it 6-1.

Kyle Schnettler (FR/Metamora, Mich.) scored the only goal in the third period with assists from Mike Scarpello (JR/Plymouth, Mich.) and Kris Wilson (SO/Trenton, Mich.). Thomas Proudlock (SO/Southgate, Mich.) started the game for the Wolverines and played two periods before being replaced by Nathan Ferris (JR/Weyburn, Saskatchewan).

The Wolverines look to make it back-to-back GLCHL Playoff titles, as UM-Dearborn takes on No. 1 seed Adrian College at 2 p.m. Sunday in Kent, Ohio.
