Wolverines fall in opening-round of WHAC playoffs to LTU

SOUTHFIELD, Mich.— The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's soccer team returned to action Saturday afternoon, taking on the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils in the opening-round of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference playoffs.

The Wolverines saw the Blue Devils jump out to an early lead and use a three-goal second half, as LTU secured the win and advanced in the WHAC playoffs.

The loss ends the 2021 season for UM-Dearborn with an overall record of 5-12-1.

Alvaro Merino would put the Blue Devils on top in the opening-minute, as LTU would strike two more times before a Wolverines response. Xavier Walser would get UM-Dearborn on the board in the 79th minute with the assist going to Jason Soltis. However, the Blue Devils would add two more goals in the final minutes to pull away wit the 5-1 win.

Everest Brace got the start in goal for the Wolverines, making four saves.

Lawerence Tech held the edge in shots 12-5, while both clubs recorded five corner kicks.
