Davenport University downs Michigan 5-1

Grand Rapids, MI- Men's hockey traveled to Grand Rapids, MI this past weekend to compete against Davenport University. The game was scoreless up until the second period when Davenport took control. Davenport put 3 goals behind the Wolverines goalie in the second period. The Wolverines found a way to sneak one puck by Davenport's goalie. Dearborn finished the game with 1 goal and allowed Davenport to score 5.

Michigan Dearborn managed to stay out of the penalty box more than usual. The Wolverines finished the game with only one minor for a total of two minutes of penalty time. With Michigan averaging 21 minutes of penalty time per game, the Wolverines significantly decreased their time spent in the box. As a team Michigan Dearborn had 24 shots on goal. Michigan registered their only goal on one of their two power play opportunities.

The Wolverines were led by Jeremy Klotz, who scored the team's only goal. Klotz scored on the power play 12:12 into the second period to make the score 2-1. Michigan gained a power play chance when Thompson was given a penalty for slashing. Derek Kessler picked up the assist. Nate Ferris rejected 40/45 shots for the Wolverines.

Men's hockey will compete against Kent State this Friday and Saturday, February 6 &7 at 7:30pm in Dearborn, MI.
