The Grizzlies Overcome the Wolverines

Rochester, MI-Oakland University (Golden Grizzlies) defeated Michigan-Dearborn 6-3 this past Saturday. The Wolverines put 33 shots on the net against Oakland during the contest, which averages more than 0.1 per game. Michigan-Dearborn was the team who racked up the penalties to end the contest with eight minors and four majors for a total of 56 minutes of penalty time. One of the major penalties caused Lucas Hart to be ejected from the game.

The Wolverines were helped by James Marchese, who registered two goals. Marchese scored the first of his two goals at 14:50 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Oakland University. Ryan Kelly picked up the assist. Marchese's next tally made the score 6-3 Oakland with 2:36 left in the third period. Michigan had gained a power play chance when Jacobs was whistled for holding. Jeremy Klotz provided the assist. Dearborn also gained points from Klotz, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Ryan Urso and Andrei Novikov each gained an assist. The Wolverines' starting goalie, David Bryant, made 12 saves before being replaces by and Nate Ferris, who also contributed 8 saves.

The men's hockey team will return on the ice this Friday and Saturday, January 30 & 31. Friday they will travel to Davenport University and face off at 7:30pm. Saturday the Wolverines will return home and compete against Davenport University at 5:30pm.
