EARLY FLURRY LEADS LOURDES OVER UM-DEARBORN MEN

SYLVANIA, Ohio – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team was unable to overcome an early deficit, falling to Lourdes University in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup Saturday in Sylvania, Ohio.

The Gray Wolves scored the first nine points of the game and led by 14 at the half. UM-Dearborn cut the Lourdes advantage to five on a couple of occasions in the second half, but the Gray Wolves held on for a 59-49 win. The Wolverines fall to 12-10 overall and 7-5 in the WHAC.

Junior Xavier Crofford (JR/Detroit, MI), who is chasing a career-scoring milestone, led the Wolverines with 13 points while adding seven rebounds. Crofford is 46 points from 1,000 in his career.

Senior Jason Penn (SR/Detroit, MI) added 11 points and five rebounds, while junior Mafiaion Joyner (JR/Battle Creek, MI) added 10 points and seven rebounds. The Wolverines shot 15-of-51 from the field, 1-of-14 from deep and 18-of-31 from the line while being outrebounded 40-31.

Jordan Fabry led the Gray Wolves with 18 points, including three 3-pointers, while Malik Thurman added 11 points.

The Wolverines return home to take on Rochester College at 7:30 pm Wednesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
