Grand Rapids, MI - The softball team continued their winning ways on Sunday by sweeping the Aquinas College Saints (4-2, 7-0). In game one, the two teams were tied 2-2 heading into the sixth inning when Haley Knodell (SO/Sterling Heights, MI) doubled scoring two runs. Gina Verduzco (SO/Portage, MI) made sure the lead would stay as she pitched a complete game allowing two runs (one earned) and striking out eight in earning her tenth win of the season.
The Wolverines jumped out on top with two runs in the first inning on singles by Jordan Ewald (SO/Wixom, MI) and Kylie Hill (JR/Adrian, MI). Michigan-Dearborn would score four more runs which would be more than enough for Alex Elwell (SR/Kalamazoo, MI). Elwell pitched a complete game, shutout. The sweep puts the softball team in second place in the WHAC at 6-2. They will next host Siena Heights on Saturday at 1:00pm at Ladywood High School.
