MUSSEN COMPETES AT NAIA CHAMPIONSHIPS

For the first time in program history, the University of Michigan-Dearborn men's team sent a representative to the event. Freshman Josh Mussen (FR/Livonia, MI) qualified for the NAIA Championships with his performance at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference meet two weeks ago.

In his first national appearance, Mussen had a strong showing finishing 10 seconds off a personal best time and crossing the line in 122ndplace in a field of 328 runners. Mussen crossed the line in 26 minutes, 25 seconds.

"Josh finished his season as one of the best freshman runners in the WHAC Conference," UM-Dearborn Head Coach Joe Horka said. "He had a lot of success in high school but has taken his performances to a new level this year. He's extremely coachable, always brings his best effort, and is a great young leader for our program."

The men's team national title was won by British Columbia, with all five of its top finishers placing in the top 15 individually. The individual title went to Mark Shaw of Oklahoma City University in a time of 24:09.
