MUSSEN HAS RECORD DAY AT WHAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

MUSSEN HAS RECORD DAY AT WHAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

Both the Wolverine men and women finished seventh out of 10 teams, as freshman Josh Mussen (FR/Livonia, MI) broke his own school record in the men's race. Both Wolverine squads improved one spot from the eighth-place showings in 2016. The WHAC team titles went to Indiana Tech on the men's side and Aquinas College on the women's.

Mussen placed 15th in the men's 8k race with a UM-Dearborn school record time of 26:15.6, breaking his own program best set earlier this season. Mussen's run was enough to qualify him for the 2017 NAIA National Championships Nov. 18 in Vancouver, Wash. Mussen is the first male UM-Dearborn student-athlete to qualify for the NAIA National Meet.

Josh Williams (FR/Saint Clair, MI) concluded his standout first season with a 35th-place showing, crossing the line in 27:00.4, while senior Sean Nowak (SR/Trenton, MI) was 55th in his final collegiate race with a time of 27:19.9. Christopher Silva was 62nd with a time of 27:56.3 and Nathan Wilson was 70th in 28:17.2.

Senior Megan Seccombe led the Wolverine women in her final race for UM-Dearborn. She crossed the line in 20th with a time of 19:36.4 in the 5k race. Freshman Victoria Hebda was 33rd with a time of 19:57.8, while fellow freshman Julia Cercone was 39th in a time of 20:17.6. Kayla Dela Cruz was 41st in a time of 20:28.1 and Camryn Zurawkski was 61st in 21:34.3.
