Strickland Named All-Conference Honorable Mention

Senior basketball player Jamiel Strickland scored his 1,000th career point earlier this season. Now he can add being named All-Conference Honorable Mention for the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) to his growing list of accomplishments. In his senior season, Strickland led the Wolverines averaging 13.2 points per game while shooting 43% from behind the three-point arc. Strickland also led the team with 87 assists and 33 steals.

Strickland was not the only Wolverine to be honored. Freshman Jason Penn was named to the All-Newcomer Team. Penn, a Ferndale, Michigan native, averaged 10.7 points per game, 6.2 rebounds per game, while blocking 37 shots on the season. Also winning awards were three seniors, Khalil Beidoun, Balazs Juhasz, and Brandon Kennedy, all of whom were named to the All-Academic Team. All-Academic Team members must be at least a junior in academic standing and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher. Kennedy was named to the Champions of Character Team as well. The Champions of Team consists of student-athletes who embody the five core values of the NAIA's Champions of Character Program. Those five values are integrity, respect, responsibility, servant leadership, and sportsmandship. During his career Kennedy has organized a campus blood drive, help create a student organization (Michigan Fit) which is designed to get college students more active, and spent many hours volunteering throughout the community.
