Men's Basketball falls to No. 13 WV Tech

RIO GRANDE, Ohio – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team traveled to Rio Grande, Ohio, to take on No. 13 West Virginia Tech in a nonconference matchup.

After trailing by three points at the half, the Wolverines fell to WVU Tech 80-58. The loss drops UM-Dearborn to 1-7 on the season.

Leading the way for the Wolverines was Mafiaion Joyner with 16 points and nine rebounds, narrowly missing on a double-double. Joyner shot 6-for-11 from the field and made 2-of-4 from beyond the arc. Jason Gigliotti finished with 14 points and eight rebounds.

The Wolverines shot 17-for-48 from the field and 7-for-26 from behind the 3-point line. They finished with 28 rebounds, compared to 43 for the Golden Bears.

WVU Tech was led by Junior Arrey with 11 points while Isaiah Morgan added 10 off the bench.

The Wolverines return to action in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup against the University of Northwestern Ohio at 7:30 pm Tuesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
