Glassboro, NJ - The volleyball team once again split their two matches in the second day of the Rowan University Tournament. The Wolverines started the day by sweeping Bryn Mawr - 25-15, 25-23, 25-14. MIchigan-Dearborn played a great match attacking .250 for the match and having 40 kills compared to 25 kills for Bryn Mawr. Freshman Shayla Smalls had 18 kills while senior Colby DeMare had 9 kills and 18 digs, which led the team. Senior setter Brittany Bejma had 30 assists in the match.
In the final match of the tournament, Michigan-Dearborn took on Marymount University. The Wolverines came out strong winning the first set 25-17. The second set saw Marymount jump out to a 10-4 lead. Michigan-Dearborn would battle back and score five consecutive points late in the set to take a 23-21 lead. A service error, a kill, and two attacking errors would give Marymount the 25-23 win. The hard fought second set and the two five-set matches the previous day caught up with the Wolverines as Marymount would win the next two sets 25-14 and 25-13 to win the match. Freshman Jayci Forster had 12 kills to lead the team while senior Megan Wright had 14 digs. The volleyball team returns home on Wednesday, September 9th to take on Marygrove College at 7:00pm.
