Williams and McLennan Receive WHAC Honors

DEARBORN, Mich. – Matthew Williams and Max McLennan of the University of Michigan-Dearborn baseball team were named to the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference baseball Honors, the league announced on Thursday (May 4). In addition, Williams and McLennan were both Second Team All WHAC Recipients. 

 

Williams, a Lake Orion, Mich. native by way of Grand Rapids CC, had an impressive slash line this spring. At the dish, Williams hit .363/.420/.536. The right-handed hitting outfielder had 53 hits, 15 doubles, three triples, and three home runs while driving in 31 runs. 

 

McLennan, a Warren, Mich. native, finished just short of breaking the UM-Dearborn single-season record for batting average set by Daniel Kerr back in 2019. Kerr finished the season hitting .413, while Mclennan hit .406. McLennan slashed .406/.497/.602 at the dish in what was a breakout junior season for the third basemen. The righty had 54 hits, nine doubles, four triples, and three long balls to go with 18 RBIs. McLennan etched his name in with one of the most impressive months of April in UM-Dearborn baseball history. With a slash line of .451/.531/.756, Mclennan sprinted up the charts and quickly became one of the best hitters in the WHAC. 

 

Nathaniel Wandrie received the team's Champions of Character award.
