Third Quarter Proves Costly as Women's Basketball Falls to Siena Heights

Adrian, MI - The women's basketball team traveled to Adrian to take on the Siena Heights University Saints on Saturday. Michigan-Dearborn (0-11, 0-6) played a strong first quarter. After Siena Heights (5-5, 2-4) took a nine point lead with just over two minutes left in the first quarter, freshman Micah White hit back-to-back three-pointers to cut the deficit to three points after the first quarter. The two teams battled in the second quarter exchanging baskets as the Saints largest lead was seven points and smallest lead was three points. After freshman Emily Heinrich hit a three-pointer late in the second quarter cutting the Siena Heights lead to four, the Saints April Watson scored on a lay-up giving Siena Heights a 29-23 lead at halftime.

The third quarter is where Siena Heights took control of the game. The Wolverines could only muster scoring five points in the third quarter and turned the ball over six times in the quarter as the Saints opened up a 22 point lead entering the fourth quarter. The deficit, combined with foul trouble, proved to be too much for Michigan-Dearborn as Siena Heights went on to win the game 65-46.

Freshman Emily Heinrich led the Wolverines with 14 points while sophomore Megan Swick added 10 points and 6 rebounds. The women's basketball team is off until December 19th when they take on Albion College at noon. The game will be played at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor.
