Lourdes tops Wolverines late

RIVERVIEW, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's soccer team took on the Lourdes University Gray Wolves in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup Friday on Senior Day in Riverview, Mich. 

Before the game, Seniors Kevin Gondoly, Chad Schmerheim, and Tanner Wallace were honored for their hard-work and dedication to the men's soccer program.

The first half saw the Gray Wolves send five shots towards the Wolverine goal but it was another stellar performance by Austin Dukes as he turned them all aside. The Wolverines broke the scoreless tie in the 43rd minute when Christian Cole found the back of the net with the assist going to Robi Redzic. The second half featured a defensive battle between the two clubs, however Lourdes would make the come back, taking the lead late with goals in the 71st and 83rd minute, to secure a 2-1 victory.The loss drops UM-Dearborn to 1-5-0 overall and 1-5-0 in the WHAC. 

Dukes finished the game with seven saves for the Wolverines. The Gray Wolves held the edge in shots, 13-8 and corner kicks, 9-1.

The Wolverines return to action against Indiana Tech at 7pm Tuesday in Fort Wayne, Ind.
