Wolverines fall to Blue Devils in home opener

RIVERVIEW, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's soccer team fell to Lawrence Tech University in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup Tuesday in Riverview, Mich.

While the first half was highlighted by stingy defense on both sides, it was the Blue Devils that struck first. In the 26th minute, Alberto Morera found the back of the net with an assist going to Alvaro Merino, giving LTU a 1-0 lead that it would take into halftime. UM-Dearborn looked to find a spark in the second half, but the Blue Devils added an insurance goal off of a corner kick from Juan Jaramillo in the 54th minute to seal the 2-0 victory.

The loss drops the Wolverines to 1-2-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the WHAC.

Austin Dukes made three saves in goal for UM-Dearborn, while the Blue Devils held the edge in shots 14-7, and corner kicks 3-1.

The Wolverines return to action against the University of Northwestern Ohio at 7pm Thursday at Gabriel Richard High School in Riverview, Mich.
