Wolverines earn first win of the season

HOWELL, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's soccer team earned its first victory of the season by defeating Cleary University 3-1 in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest Saturday night in Howell, Mich.

 After falling behind early to the Cougars in the 10th minute, the Wolverines answered back with goals from Christian Cuevas and Blake Pearce to take a one goal lead into the half, while Josiah Yoder added an insurance goal in the 64th minute to seal the victory. Vito Serra added two assists in the winning effort for UM-Dearborn. The win evens out the Wolverines record at 1-1 overall and 1-1 in the WHAC.

 Austin Dukes got the start in goal, making six saves for UM-Dearborn.

 The Wolverines return to action in the home opener against Lawrence Tech at 7pm Tuesday night at Gabriel Richard High School in Riverview, Mich.
