DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's ice hockey team was unable to get on the board for a second straight contest against top-ranked Adrian College Friday at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena.
After falling 7-0 in the series opener on the road on Thursday, No. 3 UM-Dearborn battled right with the No. 1 Bulldogs all night in the finale. An early Adrian goal and an insurance tally in the third was enough for the Bulldogs to complete the sweep, escaping with a 2-0 win.
The loss drops UM-Dearborn 13-3-1 on the season.
Michael Hodgson led the Wolverines with seven shots on goal, while Adam Groat had five. UM-Dearborn was narrowly outshot by Adrian 39-35. Thomas Proudlock made 37 saves in net for the Wolverines.
Connor Smith and Brenden Stanko each scored for the Bulldogs.
UM-Dearborn is off until after the New Year. The Wolverines open 2020 with a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference series against Concordia University starting at 7 pm, Friday, Jan. 10 at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena.
