Strong third leads UM-Dearborn women to win

LIMA, Ohio - The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team had a successful final road trip of the season, picking up a win over the University of Northwestern Ohio in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest Wednesday in Lima, Ohio.

The Wolverines rallied from an early double-digit deficit with a 15-2 run to open the second half. UM-Dearborn outscored UNOH 24-8 in the third quarter and held on for a 69-62 lead. The win moves the Wolverines to 7-20 overall and 2-16 in the WHAC.

Sophomore Jeorgia Jones (SO/Detroit, MI) scored 10 points in the third quarter to lead the Wolverine rally, while finishing with a total of 15 points and six rebounds. Sophomore Sade Lemons (SO/Sterling Heights, MI) led UM-Dearborn with 16 points, including three 3-pointers.

Junior Natalie Spala (JR/Livonia, MI) added 11 points and five assists, while senior Megan Swick (SR/Grosse Ile, Mich.) added 10 points and three 3-pointers. Senior Meredith Williams (SR/Novi, Mich.) recorded team highs with five steals and six assists.

The Wolverines finished 23-of-58 from the field, 7-of-22 from deep and 16-of-21 from the line, while outrebounding the Racers 43-36.

UNOH was led by Emily Patton with a game-high 21 points, while Cori Dickson added 16.

UM-Dearborn closes the 2017-18 season with two home games, starting against Madonna University at 1 pm Saturday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
