Women's Basketball Falls to Indiana University Komomo

DEARBORN, Mich. - A valiant second half rally from the University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team was halted late in the second half against Indiana University-Kokomo. The Wolverines clawed away at a 14-point deficit to tie the game at 50 early in the fourth quarter before dropping the contest 70-55.

The loss drops UM-Dearborn to 5-12 on the season.

UM-Dearborn entered the second half down ten points and went on an 11-5 run early in the third quarter to cut the deficit to four points. With just over six minutes left in the game the Cougars went on a 10-0 run to regain a comfortable lead before the final buzzer sounded.

The Wolverines shot 20-for-69 from the field (29%), 5-of-27 from the 3-point line and made 10-of-13 free-throws.

Natalie Spala (JR/Livonia, MI) continued to play well off the bench with an 18-point effort. She shot 5-for-15 from the field and 2-for-9 from long range as well as 6-for-7 from the free throw line to lead the way offensively. Sade Lemons (SO/Sterling Heights, MI) added 12 points of her own and Jeorgia Jones (SO/Detroit, MI) finished the game with 10 points.

IU-Kokomo went 24-for-57 from the field (42.7%). Leading the way for the Cougars was Deja Felder with 22 points highlighted by her performance from long range where she shot 6-for-13. The Cougars outrebounded the Wolverines 46-39 while UM-Dearborn led in assists 18-17.

The Wolverines will commence a two-game road swing next week as they play the rest of their schedule within the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. Their next game will take place at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, against Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Mich.
