Wolverines edged by No. 24 Blue Devils

DEARBORN, Mich. - The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team held the No. 24 ranked team in the country to 15 points in the first half, but Lawrence Technological University regrouped in the final 20 minutes and pulled away late for a 51-35 win in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup Wednesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.

UM-Dearborn's defense was stifling in the first half, as LTU was able to score just two points in the second quarter and the Wolverines forced 14 turnovers. The Blue Devils limited their turnovers to just one in the second half, while holding UM-Dearborn to 22 percent shooting in the game.

The loss drops the Wolverines to 4-10 overall and 0-7 in the WHAC.

Sophomore Sade Lemons (SO/Sterling Heights, MI) led the Wolverines with 12 points and five rebounds, while junior Kendall Rose (JR/Canton, MI) hit a pair of 3-pointers to finish with six points to go along with five rebounds. Senior Meredith Williams (SR/Novi, Mich.) recorded a team-high five assists and added two steals.

The Wolverines shot 13-of-59 from the field, 5-of-23 from deep and 4-of-6 at the line. UM-Dearborn was outrebounded 39-31.

Hayley Walkowski led LTU with 17 points and 16 rebounds for a double-double.

UM-Dearborn continues WHAC play at home against Concordia University (RV) at 1 pm Saturday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
