Detroit, Mich. - The UM-Dearborn softball team finished the regular season going 3-1 over the weekend sweeping Rochester University on Saturday and splitting a pair of games against Siena Heights University on Sunday.  On Sunday, great pitching was on display in both games for each team.  In game one, Siena Heights starter Kelsey Uhl stymied the Wolverines offense allowing just two hits in a complete game shutout.  UM-Dearborn starter Lanie Ellinger was nearly as effective allowing three hits in seven innings.  Her only blemish was a fourth inning home run which was the only run scored in the Saints 1-0 victory.  

Game two provided more great pitching as Sydni Uhlenburg pitched six and two-thirds innings of shutout softball allowing just one hit.  The Wolverines offense started fast, scoring three times in the bottom of the first.  Makenna Millhorn doubled in Shae Scott while Marisa Vermiglio singled, scoring Millhorn and Amber Cheplick.  UM-Dearborn would add one more run in the fourth inning for the 4-0 win.  Ellinger came in to record the save, getting the game's final out.

On Saturday, the softball team swept Rochester University and just like Sunday the pitching staff only allowed one run in the doubleheader.  In game one, neither offense was producing much until the Wolverines finally broke through with three runs in the bottom of the sixth winning 3-0.  Millhorn doubled in a run and Vermiglio singled in two more runs.  Ellinger pitched a complete game shutout allowing just two hits while striking out 10 Warriors. 

In game two, the UM-Dearborn offense was still clicking.  After Rochester scored one run in the top of the second, the Wolverines responded with two runs in the bottom half of the inning.  Vermiglio tripled in Ellinger and then she would score on Grace Colclasure's groundout.  UM-Dearborn would tack on three more in the bottom of the fifth highlighted by Cheplick's two-run single and then end the game in the bottom of the sixth with four more runs en route to a 9-1 victory. 

Hannah Koch got the start and allowed one run in three innings and Uhlenburg pitched the final three innings allowing two hits and no runs.

The softball team ends the season with a 17-5 record in the WHAC and awaits the results of conference games this week to see who will win the regular season championship.  Madonna University sits atop the standings with a 15-3 record in the WHAC and has two series remaining this week.  The WHAC softball tournament begins next week, May 5th, at Pacesetter Park in Sylvania, Ohio.
