WIXOM, Mich. – The softball team returned to action on Thursday hosting WHAC foe Lawrence Tech University.  Fresh off a weekend that saw the Wolverines go 3-1 including a win over # 19 Madonna, the softball team kept the momentum going sweeping the Blue Devils.

In game one, UM-Dearborn jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning, but Lawrence Tech tied it in the top of the third.  The Wolverines took the lead for good by scoring four runs in the bottom of the third.  After senior Lanie Ellinger reached on an error scoring senior Aspen Starr, junior Marisa Vermiglio doubled scoring Ellinger.  Senior Gina Liss scored Vermiglio with a single and sophomore Shae Scott reached on an error scoring Liss.

UM-Dearborn would score single runs in the fourth and fifth innings which was more than enough for Ellinger who pitched a complete game allowing one earned run and striking out six Blue Devils for her fifth win of the season.

In game two, the offense came out strong with a solo homerun from Scott in the third inning.  After adding another run in the fourth, the Wolverines blew the game open with Ellinger hitting a three-run homerun as UM-Dearborn would score five runs in the bottom of the fifth taking control of the game 7-0.  After Lawrence Tech scored twice in the top of the sixth, the Wolverines would end the game with three runs in the bottom of the sixth for the 10-2 win.

Freshman Sydni Uhlenberg pitched a complete game allowing two unearned runs and striking out six earning her sixth win of the season.

The sweep puts UM-Dearborn near the top of the WHAC standings with a 7-1 conference record.  The softball team continues conference play this Saturday as they travel to Grand Rapids to take on Cornerstone University beginning at 1:00pm.
