DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's soccer team returned to action Wednesday night, playing host to the Aquinas College Saints in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference match-up.
It would take double-overtime to determine a winner between the Wolverines and the Saints. Theo Maye of Aquinas College was the loan goal scorer in the match, connecting on a penalty shot in the 101st minute, as the Saints escaped with the 1-0 win over UM-Dearborn. The loss drops the Wolverines to 3-9-1 overall and 2-4-1 in WHAC.
Both goalkeepers kept the game tight, with UM-Dearborn's Everest Brace making eights saves, while Jared Ireland of Aquinas College had five of his own, including the shutout.
The Saints held the edge in shots, 19-12 and in corner kicks, 9-8.
The Wolverines return to action against the the University of Northwestern Ohio at 3pm Saturday at Racer Stadium in Lima, Ohio.
