Seniors shine in season-ending win over Rochester

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn baseball team closed out the program's second season with a Senior Day victory over Rochester College on Saturday at Ray Fisher Stadium in Ann Arbor, Mich.

The game was scheduled earlier in the week due to the original Senior Day on April 20 being moved to Grand Rapids as a result of inclement weather.

The Wolverines stormed out to an early lead and senior Nick Montroy pitched 6.1 strong innings on the mound to push UM-Dearborn to a 7-1 victory. The win ends the Wolverine season with a record of 19-24-1 overall, while the team finished the WHAC season at 11-11, one game out of the final playoff spot.

In a ceremony prior to the start of the contest, the Wolverines honored seniors Justin Marshall, Daniel Kerr, Waymond Lemon Jr., and Montroy.

After Rochester opened the game with a run in the first, the Wolverines answered back with six in the bottom of the inning.

UM-Dearborn started the first with four straight singles, capped by a two-run hit by Lemon Jr. to put the Wolverines up 2-1. Justin Dolney belted a bases-loaded triple, followed by an RBI single from Patrick Downing. Dolney added a second RBI triple in the second inning.

In his final collegiate outing, Montroy pitched 6.1 innings, allowing one run on four hits, while striking out four and walking five. Marshall added two no-hit innings in relief in his final game as a Wolverine.
