Wolverines sweep Saints for first WHAC win

ADRIAN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn volleyball team earned its first victory of the 2019 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference season, topping Siena Heights University Wednesday in Adrian, Mich.

The Wolverines swept the Saints in three sets, 25-17, 25-20, 25-21 to move to 2-9 overall and 1-1 in the WHAC this season. The win over the Saints was the first for UM-Dearborn since Nov. 4, 2010, snapping a 12-match losing streak in the series with SHU. 

Freshman Regan Sliwinski led the Wolverines with a career-high 15 kills and hitting at a .684 percentage. In her first action of the season, sophomore Mackenzie Zook recorded seven kills, while senior setter Daniella Barile finished with 17 assists, adding 12 digs for a double-double.

Sliwinski was strong on the defensive side of the net as well, finishing with four total blocks. Freshman Delaney Smith added 10 digs from the Libero position.

The Wolverines continue WHAC play against Lourdes University at 7 pm Friday in Sylvania, Ohio.
