BYRON CENTER, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn (11-9-1,10-5-1) men's ice hockey team dropped a road matchup against Aquinas College (13-10-8, 8-7-0) on Saturday (Jan.14). Dearborn lost the contest despite scoring five goals.

Mikhail Khudenko scored the game's first goal two minutes in when Josh Makarchuk delivered a pass to Khudenko, who beat Max Johnston to give Dearborn the early 1-0 lead. Aquinas would score three unanswered goals before Bailey Byrd would give the Wolverines their second goal three minutes into the second period. Each team would score three goals in the second period, and Dearborn would head to the locker room trailing 5-4.

Brendan West would get the Wolverines tied up as he linked up with Byrd and Jake Emery to tie the contest up at 5 with 11 minutes to play. However, that lead would not last for long as the Saints regained the lead just four minutes later on a Darren Johnson goal. Aquinas would score an empty netter with 40 seconds left to play to give the Saints the 7-5 victory.
