Wolverines Fall in Season Opener at St. Francis (Ill.)

JOLIET, Ill. — The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team opened its 2025-26 campaign on the road Friday night, falling to the University of St. Francis (Ill.), 80-58, at the Sullivan Center.
The Wolverines (0-1) battled early, trailing just 15-11 after the first quarter before the Saints (1-0) used a strong second period to pull away, outscoring UM-Dearborn 28-14 to take control at halftime. Despite a more balanced offensive effort in the second half, the Wolverines couldn't overcome St. Francis' advantage on the glass, as the hosts held a 55-34 rebounding edge.
Tamia Tounsel led Michigan-Dearborn with a double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 16 rebounds, while Marissa Thomas added 14 points. Bailey Stimac connected on three 3-pointers for nine points, and Sydney Dixon provided a spark off the bench with eight points and five steals.
The Wolverines shot 34.8% from the field and forced 13 steals, while the Saints countered with 44.4% shooting and nine makes from beyond the arc.
