SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team held a three-point lead after a 3-pointer from senior Megan Swick (SR/Grosse Ile, Mich.) midway through the third quarter against No. 19 Lawrence Technological University in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest Wednesday in Southfield, Mich.
The Blue Devils took control for the rest of the way, closing the third quarter on a 15-0 run and pulling away from the Wolverines for a 74-56 win. The loss drops UM-Dearborn to 6-18 overall and 1-14 in the WHAC.
The scoring for UM-Dearborn was dominated by three Wolverines, led by sophomore Sade Lemons (SO/Sterling Heights, MI), who finished with a team-high 21 points, including five 3-pointers. She added a team-high six rebounds.
Swick also hit five 3-pointers, scoring 17 points off the bench, while sophomore Jeorgia Jones (SO/Detroit, MI) added 15 points, with 12 coming the first half.
The Wolverines shot 21-of-48 from the field, 11-of-22 from deep and 3-of-6 from the line, finishing the game tied in the rebounding battle 29-29.
Nicole Buckingham led LTU with 24 points. Teryn Kline added 15 points off the bench.
The Wolverines return home after a week off to host No. 8 Indiana Tech at 5:30 pm Wednesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
