DEARBORN, Mich. - The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team broke through with a non-conference victory over Goshen College led by a career-high scoring performance from Natalie Spala (JR/Livonia, MI) Wednesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
The Wolverines took a 13-point lead into halftime and broke out with a 12-0 run to start the third quarter on their way to a 60-40 win. UM-Dearborn improves to 5-11 on the season.
Spala's offensive numbers were highlighted by a 61.5 shooting percentage. She came off the bench and shot 8-for-13 from the field, 4-for-8 from long range, 2-for-2 from the line and her five rebounds were second only to teammate Micah White (JR/Harper Woods, MI), who recorded seven.
Kendall Rose (JR/Canton, MI) finished with 14 points, including four three-pointers. Meredith Williams (SR/Novi, Mich.) flirted with a triple-double, filling the stat sheet with nine points, 11 assists and seven steals.
The Wolverines shot 23-of-57 from the field, 10-for-27 from deep and 4-for-4 from the line, while outrebounding the Maple Leafs 33-21 and controlling the game defensively with a 14-2 margin in steals.
Goshen was led by Mariah Row with 12 points, highlighted by four three-pointers.
UM-Dearborn hosts Indiana University-Kokomo at 1 pm Saturday, Dec. 30 at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
