Wolverines topple Cougars in road win

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. - The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team picked up a big road win over Spring Arbor University Wednesday in Spring Arbor, Mich.

The Wolverines dominated early, extending their lead to double-digits in the first half on the strength of solid outside shooting. SAU rallied in the fourth quarter, but UM-Dearborn held on for 62-59 win over the Cougars. The win pushes UM-Dearborn to 2-3 overall on the young season.

Sophomore Sade Lemons (SO/Sterling Heights, MI) had a breakout game, finishing with a team-high 16 points on 4-of-9 shooting, while hitting three 3-pointers. Sophomore Jeorgia Jones (SO/Detroit, MI) finished with a double-double scoring 11 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

Junior Emily Heinrich (JR/South Lyon, MI) came off the bench to score 10 points and grab eight rebounds. Senior Megan Swick (SR/Grosse Ile, Mich.) and junior Micah White (JR/Harper Woods, MI) each added six points, both hitting a pair of 3-pointers.

UM-Dearborn finished 21-of-49 from the field, 9-of-25 from deep and 11-of-21 from the line. The Wolverines won the rebounding battle 43-30.

The Wolverines continue non-conference play against Goshen College at 7 pm Wednesday in Goshen, Ind.
