Alessandrini enters his sixth season as the UM-Dearborn softball coach in the 2021-22 season.

Alessandrini became the third head coach in UM-Dearborn softball history in 2017, guiding the team to a conference title in his first season.

In 2017, the softball team made program and university history with the first WHAC regular-season championship for any team at UM-Dearborn. The Wolverines finished 30-10 overall and 16-4 in the WHAC, setting a program-record with 15-consecutive wins in league play. Alessandrini was named the WHAC Coach of the Year, a first for any coach at UM-Dearborn.

In three seasons, Alessandrini has coached 11 All-WHAC honorees, one WHAC Player of the Year and one NAIA All-American Honorable Mention.

The Macomb Township, Mich., native helmed the softball program at Macomb Community College prior to joining UM-Dearborn. He guided the Monarchs to league and district titles in 2015, while being named District Coach of the Year. The 2015 MCC team also competed at the NJCAA National Championship.

Prior to taking over at MCC, Alessandrini coached the varsity program at Eisenhower High School. For nearly the last decade, Alessandrini has been an instructor with Extra Innings and a coach with the Michigan Batbusters travel team, which won the 12U World Series Championship and the 2014 16U National Championship.

Alessandrini has additional coaching experience in football and baseball, including an assistant position with MCC baseball in 1992.
