COSSYLEON NETS FIRST WOLVERINE GOAL IN LOSS AT ADRIAN

The Wolverines battled the Bulldogs throughout the match, but the home team pulled away in the second half for a 4-1 win. The loss drops UM-Dearborn to 0-2 in its first season of competition as a varsity program in the NAIA.

Valeria Cossyleon (SR/Detroit, MI) made history for UM-Dearborn in the first half. At the 21:49 mark of the contest, Cossyleon scored the first goal for the UM-Dearborn women's soccer program, stepping up on a strong feed from sophomore Jenna Rogers (SO/South Lyon, MI) and slipping the ball past the Adrian goalkeeper.

The goal from Cossyleon tied the score at 1-1 midway through the first half. Strong play in net from freshman Jordan Anheuser (FR/Canton, MI) kept the Wolverines close, but Adrian found a go-ahead goal before the end of the first half. Adrian added two goals in the second half to pull away for the win.

Anheuser finished with eight saves as UM-Dearborn was outshot 23-2. The Bulldogs took 10 corner kicks to one from the Wolverines.

UM-Dearborn opens Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play in the program's first-ever home game against Indiana Tech at 7 p.m. on Sept. 26 at Gabriel Richard High School in Riverview, Mich.
