Back-to-Back: Butler named WHAC POTW for 2nd straight week

DEARBORN, Mich. - For the second time in as many weeks, Kassidy Butler (SO/Parchment, MI) has earned Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors after leading the Wolverines to six wins in league play, pushing the team's streak to 13 games.

Butler, who is also the reigning NAIA Player of the Week (this week's award winner will be announced Tuesday), was 9-of-18 at the plate with two home runs, including one of the inside-the-park variety and a grand slam. She added eight runs scored and nine RBIs, while showing her patience at the plate with four walks.

Over the last two weeks, Butler has 19 hits and five home runs, propelling UM-Dearborn to the top of the WHAC standings as the team looks to capture its first-ever league title with four games left on the schedule. Butler is leading the WHAC in hitting at .512 and has a WHAC-high 38 RBIs. She is slugging .915 and has an on-base percentage of .574.

After three doubleheaders last week, the Wolverines will wait for a crucial WHAC matchup with Aquinas College at 1 p.m. Saturday in Grand Rapids, Mich.
