Women's Soccer drops WHAC match to Golden Eagles

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's soccer team continued Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play with another close match, narrowly falling to Cornerstone University Wednesday in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The Golden Eagles scored two goals late in the first half and held on for a 2-0 win over the Wolverines, who fall to 1-8-2 overall and 1-6-1 in the WHAC.

Phoebe LaCroix broke through with game's first goal in the 42nd minute, while Alexys Riksen added an insurance goal less than three minutes later.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jordan Anheuser held the Wolverines in the game, making 10 saves, her sixth consecutive outing with double-digit saves. UM-Dearborn was outshot 18-2, as Marley Kuzner and Breana Pheiffer each recorded shots for the Wolverines.

UM-Dearborn continues WHAC play on Senior Night against the University of Northwestern Ohio at 4 pm Saturday at Gabriel Richard High School in Riverview, Mich.
