Wolverines close the regular season with loss at Madonna

LIVONIA, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team concluded the 2019-20 regular season with a road contest at Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference foe Madonna University Saturday in Livonia, Mich.

The game was close throughout, but the Crusaders were able to hold on late for a 56-55 win, despite a 35-foot buzzer beater from Cydney Williams as regulation expired. The loss ends the regular season for the Wolverines with a record of 17-13 overall and 10-10 in the WHAC.

UM-Dearborn will be the No. 6 seed in the WHAC Postseason Tournament and will travel to No. 3 seed Lawrence Tech for the opening round on Thursday in Southfield, Mich.

Against Madonna, the Wolverines were led by Sade Lemons with 16 points and seven rebounds. Ro'Zhane Wells, Rachel Bause and Mariah Taylor each scored eight points for the Wolverines in the loss. Bause had a team-high 11 rebounds and added six blocked shots.

The Wolverines shot 16-of-58 from the field, 6-of-21 from deep and 17-of-28 at the line.

Madonna was led by Claire Leroux with 12 points off the bench.
