ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team held a narrow lead at the half against Concordia University, but the Cardinals took control after the break in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup Saturday in Ann Arbor, Mich.
The Wolverines led 27-25 after the first 20 minutes led by Emily Heinrich (JR/South Lyon, MI) off the bench. Concordia took the lead after the third and pulled away in the fourth for a 66-49 win, dropping the Wolverines to 4-7 overall and 0-4 in the WHAC.
Heinrich finished with a team-high 12 points, including seven in the first half. Jeorgia Jones (SO/Detroit, MI) finished with 10 points and seven rebounds, while Sade Lemons (SO/Sterling Heights, MI) added nine points and six rebounds off the bench. Kendall Rose (JR/Canton, MI) recorded seven points and seven rebounds. Meredith Williams (SR/Novi, Mich.) chipped in with seven assists and two steals.
The Wolverines shot 19-of-67 from the field, 7-of-28 from deep and 4-of-12 from the line, while outrebounding the Cardinals 54-43.
Karlee Morris and Kari Borowiak each scored 20 points to lead Concordia.
The Wolverines return home to take on the University of Northwestern Ohio in a WHAC contest at 5:30 pm Wednesday at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
