DETROIT - The University of Michigan-Dearborn softball team split a pair of high-scoring games against Siena Heights University in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference doubleheader Wednesday at Buysse Field on the campus of the University of Detroit-Mercy.

The Wolverines hit three home runs to win the opener 8-3, while SHU scored eight runs in the second inning of game two and held off a UM-Dearborn rally to take the finale 12-8. The second game was called after six innings due to darkness.

The split moves UM-Dearborn to 11-9 overall and 3-3 in the WHAC.

Jordan Ewald (SR/Wixom, MI) hit a pair of home runs in game one, including a three-run blast in the fifth to give control to the Wolverines. Samantha Torongeau (SO/Shelby Township, MI) hit her first career home run in the sixth.

The Wolverines finished with eight runs on 10 hits and had no errors.

After Sarah Prashad (JR/Mississauga, Ontario) doubled home two runs in the second to give the Wolverines a 2-1 lead in game two, the Saints scored eight in the third to build a 9-2 advantage. UM-Dearborn bounced back with five in the bottom of the inning, including a second two-run double from Prashad.

The Saints retook control with two home runs in the fourth. The game was called after six innings due to darkness. Prashad, Meaghan Markus (FR/Mattawan, MI), Rachel Dolland (JR/Lake Orion, MI) and Torongeau each finished with two hits in the loss.
