Wolverines Share Points with Foresters

DEARBORN, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's soccer team took on a tricky Huntington squad in their season opener on Wednesday (Aug. 28). The Foresters have already downed a pair of WHAC opponents in their thought non-conference slate, but the Wolverines were not fazed as they shared the points after a hard-fought 2-2 draw at Star International Academy.

The Foresters scored in the third minute when Dilesh Patel played Owen Lieland into space, allowing for a 1v1 opportunity with Elijah Burlak. Burlak gave his best effort but could not stop the Foresters from taking the early 1-0 lead. However, the Forester's lead was not safe for long. Noah Carmona scored 30 seconds later as Ali Ayyash set him up perfectly for the equalizer in the fourth minute. Andrew Schwartz gave the Wolverines the lead three minutes later after Carmona found the fifth-year senior open for his first goal of the year.

After heading to the break up 2-1, the Foresters climbed back into the game with an equalizer in the 59th minute. Huntington controlled the second half, outshooting the Wolverines 12-1. Burlak made six saves to keep the Wolverines knotted up at two and sharing the points in their opening game.
