Men's soccer season ends in WHAC First Round

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's soccer team entered the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Postseason Tournament for the second consecutive season as the No. 8 seed and traveled to No. 1 see Indiana Tech for the quarterfinals on Saturday in Fort Wayne, Ind.

The Wolverines hung right with the top-seeded Warriors, keeping the game scoreless until an own goal game No. 18 Indiana Tech a 1-0 lead in the 64th minute. The Warriors scored two more in the final eight minutes to escape with a 3-0 win.

The loss ends UM-Dearborn's season with a record of 5-10-1 overall under first-year coach Worteh Sampson.

Brian Ostapenko made five saves in the loss for the Wolverines, while WHAC All-Newcomer Team member Brendan Petz led the offense with three shots, including one on goal.

Indiana Tech got goals from Maxwell Amoako and Ange de Jorge to go along with the own goal.
