Wolverines top Bulldogs 2-1 in Adrian

ADRIAN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's soccer team withstood a late barrage of scoring threats from Adrian College to hold on for a road win Wednesday in Adrian, Mich.

The Wolverines scored two goals in the second half and after the Bulldogs cut the deficit in half, the home team looked for the equalizer late. Adrian was unable to solve the goalkeeping of UM-Dearborn freshman Alex Siluk and the Bulldogs hit a post in the final minutes as the Wolverines held on for a 2-1 win.

The victory pushes UM-Dearborn to 2-1-1 this season.

Siluk stood tall in the first half to keep the game scoreless, making seven of his career-high 10 saves before the break. UM-Dearborn got on the board first with the second goal of the season in the 62nd minute from freshman Jack Barnett on a long pass up the wing from fellow freshman Bryan Lendzion.

UM-Dearborn stretched its lead to 2-0 with an unassisted goal from Chad Schmerheim as he put back a rebound in front of the Adrian net in the 72nd minute. The Bulldogs answered 23 seconds later on a goal from Dylan Mines.

Adrian outshot UM-Dearborn 21-5 while taking five corner kicks to none from the Wolverines.
