Soccer Loses Final Game of the Season

Southfield, MI - The men's soccer team lost its final game of the season Wednesday afternoon 3-0 to the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils. Once again an early goal against Michigan-Dearborn proved costly as the Blue Devils scored just 16 minutes into the game. Lawrence Tech (9-7-1, 5-4-1) scored again late in the first half giving them a 2-0 lead at halftime. Michigan-Dearborn (4-11-1, 2-8-1) managed to get 6 shots in the game while Lawrence Tech had 19. Just over twelve minutes into the second half, the Blue Devils scored the final goal of the game as Tyler Winningham put it past junior goalkeeper Aaron Johnson. Johnson made six saves in the game.

The loss ends the season for the men's soccer team. The team improved their overall record by one win from last year. Today was the final game for several seniors as Kosai Zaya, Mario Konja, Michael Masserant, Shahad Farahani, Zack Lefebvre, and Chris Porreca all played in their final collegiate soccer game on Wednesday. The group of seniors was part of the team when the team went varsity in 2012. In 2013, the team qualified for the WHAC playoffs and lost in the quarter-finals to Northwestern Ohio.
