Soccer Falls Short Against Marygrove

Detroit, MI - The men's soccer team made the quick trip to Detroit on Wednesday afternoon to take on the Marygrove College Mustangs looking to end their two game losing streak. Unfortunately the Mustangs had other ideas and downed the Wolverines 4-2. Marygrove, (4-4-1, 1-0-1) outshot Michigan Dearborn (3-5, 1-2) 15-4 on the game. Just over 20 minutes into the game, Marygrove's Abdoulie Jallow went past the Wolverines defense and put it past junior goalkeeper Erick Beas to give the Mustangs a 1-0 lead. That would be the only goal of the first half.

The second half started out a bit slow, but then the scoring picked up. Marygrove would score three goals in a 14 minute span taking control of the game 4-0. Much like Saturday's game against Davenport, Michigan-Dearborn would play hard the entire game. Junior Hussein Hassan would score twice for the Wolverines in the last ten minutes of the game pulling the team within two goals. Time, however, was not on the side of Michigan-Dearborn as it expired with Marygrove winning 4-2.

Beas made 5 saves in the loss. The two goals for Hassan were his first two goals of the season. The men's soccer team will look to rebound Saturday as they host Lourdes University at 3:00pm at the Legacy Center.
