Davenport Defeats Men's Soccer

Brighton, MI - The men's soccer team hosted the 2nd ranked Davenport University Panthers on Saturday afternoon. Davenport (6-1-1, 1-0) came in riding a five game winning streak and continued their winning ways as they won 6-3. The Panthers would score six consecutive goals while firing 11 shots on goal to the Wolverines 6 shots on goal. Davenport came out strong scoring the game's first goal just 8 minutes into the game. The Panthers would tack on three more goals in the first half against junior goalie Aaron Johnson.

The start of the second half saw Davenport scores just 33 seconds into the half as junior Erick Beas took over as the Wolverines goalie. Davenport would add one more goal later in the half to go up 6-0. Michigan-Dearborn (3-4, 1-1) would not give up as the Wolverines would go on to score three goals in a nine minute span in the second half. Senior Alek Vasilevski would get the Wolverines on the scoreboard when he scored on a penalty kick. Minutes later freshman Holland Clarke took a pass from senior Kosai Zaya and shot it past Davenport goalie Kyler Jacobs. Junior Evan Behrendt would score the game's final goal just four minutes after Clarke's goal.

The men's soccer team will next play Wednesday September 30th, against Marygrove College at 4:00pm.
