ATHENS, Tenn. -- In a tough matchup on Monday (Mar. 3), the University of Michigan-Dearborn lacrosse team fell to Tennessee Wesleyan 13-8 at the TWU Athletic Complex. The Wolverines, now 3-3 on the season, battled hard but were ultimately outpaced by the Bulldogs, who improved to 2-4.
First Half: The game began with Tennessee Wesleyan taking an early lead, outscoring Michigan-Dearborn 3-1 in the opening quarter. The Bulldogs' Jameson Koch and Garret Beasley got the ball rolling with goals in the first period, while UM-Dearborn's Reece Rath scored their only first quarter goal at 8:57.
The second quarter saw UM-Dearborn rallying a bit, scoring a quick goal on the man advantage, but Tennessee Wesleyan's Hayden Harmon and Carson Bowling extended their lead. By halftime, the Wolverines trailed 5-3.
Second Half: The Bulldogs' offense came alive in the third quarter, putting up five goals to UM-Dearborn's two, widening the lead to 10-5. Carson Bowling had a standout performance in the third, scoring twice, while Michigan-Dearborn's Brody Marlatt and Brodie Mahmud added goals to keep the game alive.
In the fourth quarter, the Wolverines showed some resilience, with Gabriel De La Paz, Cole Rosenwald, and Aidan Meyers scoring three more goals, narrowing the deficit to 10-8. However, Tennessee Wesleyan held firm, with Carson Bowling scoring three goals in the final period to seal the 13-8 victory.
