LIVONIA, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn lacrosse team battled No. 2 Madonna University in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup on Wednesday in Livonia, Mich.
The Crusaders jumped out to a seven-goal lead in the first quarter and held off the Wolverines 14-5, dropping UM-Dearborn to 1-9 overall and 1-5 in the WHAC.
Down 8-0, the Wolverines scored four of the next six goals. Dillon Beal got UM-Dearborn on the board early in the second quarter, followed by a goal from Chad Reynolds with five seconds remaining in the first half.
UM-Dearborn scored the first two goals of the second half as Ben Phillips and Micah Rinke made it a 10-4 deficit. Cameron Godin added a goal for the Wolverines in the fourth quarter.
The Wolverines were outshot 62-30 in the loss.
Madonna's Harry Dyson scored a game-high six goals and added two assists.
The Wolverines continue conference play against Concordia University at 4 pm on Saturday in Ann Arbor, Mich.
