After a tremendous regular season that saw the University of Michigan-Dearborn men's ice hockey team finish with 12 wins over ranked teams, including a memorable victory over the nation's top team at the Fieldhouse, the Wolverines got the postseason started with a second straight GLCHL Playoff title over the weekend.
The championship run included a win over No. 2 Adrian College in the title game and was the final stop before the Wolverines make a second consecutive trip to the ACHA Division I Men's Ice Hockey National Championships.
No. 9 seed UM-Dearborn opens the tournament against No. 8 Robert Morris University-Illinois at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, March 11 in Columbus, Ohio. The game is a rematch of a midseason series at the Fieldhouse, which saw the Wolverines sweep the Eagles in back-to-back impressive games.
In a celebration of the season and a show of support prior to the national tournament, the UM-Dearborn Athletics Department invites you to the Fieldhouse for an official send off for the Wolverines as they depart for Columbus. Please join the rest of the UM-Dearborn community at 11:30 a.m., Friday, March 10 at the north entrance of the Fieldhouse as we wish good luck to our Wolverines as they begin their quest for an ACHA National Championship.
The athletics department is also coordinating a bus for those who would like to travel to Columbus to cheer on the team. The bus will be departing from the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse at noon on Saturday, March 11 and will return immediately after the game, pending a minimum number of reservations are secured.
The cost per person, which includes? a seat on the bus and game ticket, is $20. All reservations must be paid in advance of the trip and made payable by check only to the "UM-Dearborn Athletics Department."
